The process of career counselling starts from the counsellor himself his experience in the field of counselling and his right genuine guidance is an important element in the entire process. Career Counsellors are experts in psychology, which means that they should hold at least a post-graduate degree in Psychology/Applied Psychology, and/or a diploma in Counselling Psychology. Career Counsellors who give guidance for a particular field, such as engineering, management, hospitality, etc., must be experts in the concerned domain.

Providing students with a safe environment is a first step to build their confidence in you when they know that all information’s which are shared by them are in confidentiality their trust will be gained. Such step helps them to take a decision without any pressure and they open up about what they like and not.

Today boards like CBSE has made it mandatory to have counselors in every school’s premises but this is not enough as one has to identify what kind of counselor is actually required. Many of the counselors already present are life skill counselors and although life skills are important, the number of college advisors (counselors) are low. Ultimately, college advisors are what students need most to be successful. To highlight, the urgent requirement for career counselor’s recent stats show a whopping 92% of students who don’t get any career-related guidance from their schools.
